  • Odannyoh offers good advice. 4 Avenue (and parts of Tucson too) is not the placid place that it appears to be. In fact, I don�t feel 100% comfortable on 4 Avenue as there is too much anti-gay harassment from college punks and strung-out dopers.

    I have been in gay places on 4 Avenue when passers bye have yelled anti-gay slurs through the open door. Another employee of a 4 Avenue gay place told me that they keep the door locked after someone came in and choked them.

    Wingspan IS a safe haven of refuge, if you can make it from 4 Avenue down semi-deserted 7 Street (the opposite catty-corner of Hippie Gypsy) to the Wingspan entrance (on your left).

    Come and go in pairs and keep you cell phone handy. Try to get a photo of the person �bothering� you. If you feel threatened, go and stand in the center of 4 Avenue and yell �fire.�
