The men's locker room and showers at the USF Rec. Center work well for cruising. There are three long rows of lockers and benches in the locker room. These rows are visually cut off from the entry and provide greater privacy in the back. The showers are in an open room with about a dozen shower heads where everyone can see each other (no private stalls). The showers are accessed from 2 entries, one from the locker room and one from the pool. People who enter from the locker room go through a room with benches and towel hooks and can usually be heard as they walk to the showers. From the pool entry the door slams loud, so people who enter the showers from the pool can be heard walking down the stairs before they are seen in the showers. Many different ages and types use the locker rooms and showers: students, alumni, professors, etc. The USF Rec. Center is free to USF students and faculty. Alumni pay a monthly membership. They may or may not be day memberships for those not affiliated with the university, I'm not sure.

Neighbourhood: Temple Terrace

The USF Rec. Center is located on the USF Tampa campus just west of the Sundome. You enter the Rec. Center on the second floor. The locker rooms are on the first floor in the back. If you can't find the locker rooms, a staff member can direct you.
  • Hours:Hours: Mon-Thur 6:15am-11:00pm Fri 6:15am - 9:00pm
    Sat 9:00am - 5:00pm
    Sun 1:00pm - 11:00pm
    Late mornings see the heaviest traffic in the locker rooms and showers. Afternoons and evenings people trickle in. Best times to cruise are usually are during the hours the pool is open. Noon to 1:00 is great for finding guys to cruise, but you have to be more careful. Evenings provide more privacy with less people at any one time using the locker room. You are less likely to get caught at these times, but you may have to be patient if you want to find someone.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Discretion is essential! Some signs of interest from other guys include casual glances, lingering around the lockers or in the showers, and if you see a guy's starting to get hard. Use eye contact cautiously. This is a place best for jacking off. All other activities carry a greater risk of getting caught, but these activities are not impossible as long as you are careful. The Rec. Center provides liquid soap dispensers in the showers. This provides an excuse to get a better view of someone as you reach for the dispenser. If showering, let your get hard gradually. Don't jack off unless you are certain the other guy is interested. I have off with guys many times in the showers and in the locker room and have never gotten caught. If any close calls came up, I had plenty of warning time.
  • Nudity / Policy:Nudity is expected in a locker room.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No / There are elevators in the Rec. Center. There is handicap access to the locker rooms, but not the showers.
  • Warnings:I cannot emphasize discretion enough! Most of the guys who use the locker room and showers are not interested in cruising, but there are plenty who are. Don't be obvious! Rarely, some guys will send mix signals. Wait to see if their is hard to know for certain if they are interested. If you find a guy who you think is interested, you may have to wait patiently for other guys who are not interested to leave. If you are in the middle of getting some action and you hear a door slam, foot steps, or conversation, you should stop what you're doing immediately. Sometimes guys who pass through the showers to get to the pool can sneak up on you if they are quiet.

  • Yeah, you would need a USF ID card to get into the gym. You could go as a guest of a student, but I think there is a fee for that.
