The area in the middle is the best, though for more privacy the area in the back is darker. Like a lot of Chinese parks this is a square piece of land in the middle of downtown, so there are concrete and asphalt paths with some water (ponds, pools), a monument to the Taiwanese massacred by Mainland troops on Feb 28, 194?, and a traditional Chinese pagoda. Traditionally after midnight the action shifts to the street in front of the Presidential Palace, a few blocks away. Though I don't think they would do anything, there are a few nervous undercover soldiers with buzzed hair in civilian clothes who stand around waiting for signs of an attack on the presidental palace by mainland terrorists. I think they're basically bored and nervous.
Crowd: Taiwanese students, businessmen, foreign businessmen.
