Close to the Rail Golf Course, and just up the street from Riverside Park, there is only one road going downhill to a heavily wooded small circular parking lot, with a shelter and several trails.

This is one of the easiest places to get action, whether in the shelter or the woods. I've been going for three years on my yearly visit to Springfield, this year, when at the preserve, went to the shelter, and observed a guy his wife as she lay in one of the windows of the shelter, protected from the road by the fireplace. Five of us were able to her, and I noticed they were there 8 hours later! A couple of days later, I got blown in the woods.

Best yet - I've never seen a cop there. Because it's a preserve, it's under the Dept. of Natural Resources, so it is nearly WIDE OPEN for anything!

Since it's very close to Riverside Park, its a great location to drive back and forth.

    Cruisiest Spots: Walking trails and parking lot at Carpenters Park.
  • Nudity / Policy:Yes / Can get naked in woods and the shelter.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:Some straights will come down but it's easy to tell who's looking for action or who's not.
    Warnings: Carpenter Park is a nature preserve, but it's also part of the Springfield city park system, and it's patrolled both by the City and Park District Police -- but not all that often.

  • I have played there a few times but I'm too paranoid about cops patrolling the area. I have heard some wild tails about this place though. If you get on the trails and back a ways, there is an open field and I have heard that orgies occasionally happen out there, though I have never seen one personally. Thomass63 is right about the mosquitoes. They are relentless.
