The Hayes Valley Inn is an inexpensive and friendly small hotel, nestled in the heart of San Francisco's charming Hayes Valley. It's a neighborhood known for its fine restaurants, boutique shops and art galleries. We are San Francisco's premiere economy hotel, and we pride ourselves on our cozy bed and breakfast feel. We are popular with visitors from England, Australia, New Zealand, France, Austria as well as Japan and other European Union countries — any traveler looking for comfortable, inexpensive lodging in the most beautiful city on earth.
Morning foghorns and seagulls weave the magic of the City as you walk to the nearby Civic Center Plaza which contains our Opera, the Symphony and Ballet, City Hall, new Asian Art Museum and architecturally acclaimed Public Library. We are close to all public transportation, making it an easy reach to Chinatown, Pacific Bell Park for sports events and Golden Gate Park with its tranquil Japanese Tea Garden. The vibrant Mission and Castro neighborhoods are a short bus ride down Market Street, Japantown is a walk up the hill. The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is readily accessible. Moscone Convention Center is an easy BART subway, trolley or bus ride down Market Street.
Within three blocks you will find our War Memorial Opera House, home to San Francisco's opera and ballet companies. Across the street from the Opera is Davies Symphony Hall where the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra plays. Adjacent to the opera house, the Herbst Theater consistently offers the best dramatic and comedic productions. Also nearby is the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium which draws its share of music fans coming to The City for performances by top-name artists. The City's theater district is within one mile of the inn. Consider a visit to the Arboretum, with its gardens of sister-climates to San Francisco's soft and welcoming maritime weather. Summers can unfurl our coolest weather, so be prepared for a comfortable 50-65 F degrees in July and August, with cool breezes and bright sun! Our warmest months are September and October when we can have days in the 80's!
