Gianni and John -- the American owner and his Roman lover -- have been together longer than the bar they opened together. It's a Roman institution and consistently gets a crowd when other bars come and go. If you're going dancing, it's a nice spot to throw a few drinks back early before you go to a club. If not, there are almost always guys there and sometimes people even bring their gal friends in for a drink, but not that often. Muscle queens, twinkies, average Joes.

It's between Piazza Vittorio and Via Cavour, just behind a street that begins with a little castle tower. Take the subway to Piazza Vittorio then walk down Via del Statuto and start walking down the hill until you see the tower.

Best times: 12:00 to 1:30am, Mondays for Porno Night, weekends.

Cruising Info/ Tips:An Italian man always appreciates a smile. He's probably waiting for you to make the first move too, so go for it.
Cruisiest Spots: The bar in front of the back room and the area right in front of the curtain leading to the back room.

Warnings:Be careful not to loose the slip of paper that John gives you. It's used to list all your drinks, so that you pay him on the way out. You also have to get either an ARCI Gay Italy membership card or a Hangar membership card or a Hangar temporary membership card, but either way you can't get out of this added expense (it's not that much actually and the ARCI card is used at all the most of the saunas in town, too). I'd feel safe here, the police station is just a few steps down the block and they've coexisted together for more than 15 years!
