  • Clarification: My comments below refer to the beach at "Fort Tilden," which is west of Beach 169th Street. The comments don't refer to "Riis Park" proper or even the dune area immediately to the west of the boardwalk at Riis Park.

    Also, the "A" train doesn't go to Riis Park, which doesn't go any farther west than Beach 116th Street. The Q35 and Q22 buses are the only public transporation alternatives to Riis Park/Fort Tilden Beach.

  • i dont drive & i'm kinda far from here but i always wanted to be nude in public & always wanted to play in public. if i can do either one, i'd be a really happy camper. if anyone wants to go & let me tag along sometime, i'd really appreciate it. and of course, i'd make it with the trip.

  • The correct name of this place is "Riis Park," or more accurately Fort Tilden. I went back after I wrote the last post. I saw a guy in a thong on the beach, and in the dunes a guy was sunbathing nude. The nude guy later went onto the beach -- nude. I don't know if that will persist during the busier summer season, and unfortunately there was little action in the dunes behind the road. Still, maybe this place has some real potential!

  • I've gone to the beach and the dunes at Ft. Tilden a few times over the past year. There are some trails in the dunes, but nudity is completely inappropriate since all sorts of people wander through. This is not a gay beach. However, it's a pleasant, quiet beach, especially in the off-season---which is fine if that's what you're looking for.
