This narrow, undeveloped beach does not seem to have a proper name. It faces Niantic Bay and is located on a spit of land at the mouth of the Niantic River. The beach is just below Highway 156. This stretch of beach is little used except by fishermen, who usually stay on the east end of the beach near the train bridge. Gay men sometimes sunbathe nude on the west end of the beach. Discretion is necessary since there are many boats in the area. Crowds should always be small - maybe just you.

From New London head west on I-95 about 6 miles, then take Exit 74 and drive south on SR-131 about 3.2 miles to Niantic, then turn left (east) on SR-156 for .5 mile. Turn left at sign for Black Hawk Dock. Follow road downhill and under SR-156 to the parking lot. Park & walk under railroad bridge, then along the narrow sand ribbon to the west.
