Access from U.S. 2 from the south to Hwy 117, head north to M123, turn west (left), go about 1 1/2 miles and park will be on your left. This park is west of Newberry on M123, with 1/2 mile signs warning you of it's aproach.
Cross street: just west of 117.
  • Crowd:All types, Families also, RV's and some trucks.
  • Hours:Open all day and night, not sure if bathrooms are locked at night, have not been there late.
Best times: I have found early morning, then busier later in the afternoon after work. Some noon action, but some local roughs and park workers spend their lunch time there.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Park furthest away from restrooms and walk by cars between you and restoom, make eye contact, the rest will follow.
Cruisiest Spots: West end of park, park car and watch, usually guys will be on picnic tables, or will touch themselves entering or leaving bathroom.

  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:Local sheriff and state cops do pass through on occasion, bring a lunch or book.

  • I think you mean that it's on M-28 not M-123. M-123 runs north thru newberry from M-28.

  • This rest area park is NOT on M-123, but on M-28. Going north from US-2 on M-117, M-117 ends at M-28, and turning left (West) will take you to the rest area. Turning right will take you to M-123, which runs north from M-28 and through the town of Newberry, and up to Tahquamenon Falls.
