cruiser update 4/4/2008: The main cruising area is now further down, near JD Sports, and there is another tunnel further down too, however, this one is covered by a camera. Not seen a camera on the first tunnel, however, if you park in the shopping complex, you will be on camera there. Police tend to appear from nowhere, and all directions!!

Previous: The Canal cruising area is very large and only one portion is actually by the canal itself. Cruising ground has moved further up road. Carry on walking over tram tracks and over Picadilly, and main area is now behind some new apartment development underneath the bridge, near the docking part of the canal.

At the edge of the Gay Village on the townpath starting where Canal St crosses Minshull St. Enter through small gateway in wall that's opposite the car park area and continue down path.

  • Update, May 2009: Yes just make people aware of the eastern European guys down there. They spread out & move in for the pockets when alone with someone!! BE VERY CAREFUL GUYS if you see them down there.....

  • Update, Aug 2002: new security cameras underground. No longer safe.

    beware that there are daily but infrequent foot/car patrols.
