Actually a mixed gay-straight bar, but you hope your artsy types will put aside their palaver about Rechy and Araki long enough to go home with you if you talk the talk. Maybe even a desperate straight boy if you promise to blow him nicely.
Crowd: Web designers, alternative musicians, writers, indie film makers.

If you wanna show off the cool clothes you and your friends bought at the vintage store... go to Akbar. Plus they kick you out before 1:50 am... and it's just blah.

This once cool place is getting way too much attitude now that it has caught on with the hipsters. Drinks are way too much money, and it's the size of a walk-in closet anyhow. Needs a better, bigger venue (hey, how about commandeering the old Detour down the street?). Still, if you want to pretend you're hanging with the beautiful people (at least the "hip" people), Akbar will suffice.
