I'm trying to be discrete here, and we all hope a good thing doesn't get ruined, but...mmm well, it already is..well at least the PP is. I've already noted a few guys out in the evening between VP and GE. Make no mistake: this isn't clubing. There are lots of bugs, cyclists without lights who may run into you, posts and ruts in the middle of the path, lots of street crossings and its dark in many places. Still, at least its a chance to get outside and enjoy the summer. Apparently some aready are doing so.

So what do we do to make this a destination for cruising?

update on Great Western...RBS is right-its the idea of caution, not that there can't ir isn't be any fun...the W burb area is loaded (no pun) with gay guys, and during the summer they are out and about. The Du Page parts of the Prairie Path and the GW Trail were funded by the county DOT (unlike Kane Co.) therefore they are considered 'roads' and do not close at night. I've seen more than a few guys out at night this year enjoying our short summer. Who knows what else may happen?

I'm not saying to go at it in the middle of the path - but I live right on the path and have been on it and all different times of day and night - and have never seen any type of patrol. Perhaps going at it right by the power company would not be the best idead - you can go away from it. Basically, take the same precautions here that you would anywhere else. But I think this is a viable place for cruising.

The Great Western Trail and the Illinois Praire Path are well patrolled by cops on ATVs, in cars, on foot and riding bikes during the warm months. Some are not in full uniform, but instead wear T shirts and shorts, so keep it zipped! The Trail is along a powerline right-of-way which is watched for security reasons as well as for moral and drug offenses. This is no joke: local-city as well as county and forest preserve police patrol these paths every day from sunrise to 8 PM or later.
