The Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve in DeKalb County has 537 acres of natural area. Sixty percent of this unique preserve is actually a gigantic gneiss rock outcropping similar to that of Stone Mountain, its younger sibling. The Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve also contains pine/oak thickets, an old abandoned rock quarry, and a lake. It is home to several endangered plants (including the endangered black-spored quill wort Isoletes melanospora, found in only seven other known places in the world) and is rumored to have an interesting resident salamander population. A nature center is being established on the property. Hiking is especially beautiful in autumn due to the fall color of the preserve's large forested areas.

Take I-20 East to the Evans Mill Road exit. Turn right onto Evans Mill road. At the traffic light continue straight onto Woodrow Drive. Travel on Woodrow Drive for ~1.5 miles to Klondike Road. Turn right onto Klondike Road and travel ~2.5 miles. The Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Center is on your right.
  • Crowd:Young through forties.
  • Hours:The park is open from 7am until dusk everyday. The best times seems to be early mornings and late afternoons after work.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:The southern parking lot (not the one closest to the Methodist Church). From the parking lot head up the trail into the woods on the right.
