Who's Coming

All ages, all types, students/young workers weekday afternoons, weekends very mixed.

To all who need to clarify directions to get here:

There are several ways, but the easiest is either cycling or getting the 371 bus from Richmond station to Sandy Lane in Ham.

If you consult an A to Z of London, you then walk down Woodville Road and then Ashburnham Road.

Where Ashburnham Road crosses Riverside Drive, there is a path going diagonally into bushes.

If you follow this, you will go into a wood. You cannot go left, as there is a sailing club and a lake fenced off to the left. This wood that you enter is part of the cruising area. There are many different paths, but you would at least see other cruisers by now, and you can follow them out into the meadow where the sunbathing is.

Another way is to park at the end of Ham Street, by the river, and to walk along the river path towards Kingston. Fifteen minutes walk and you will come to a section of the river where the path rises slightly and you will see a brown sign on the left that announces Ham Lands. You follow this path out into the sunbathing meadow.

>>The busiest places are a bit away from the river. The easiest way to find it from the car park is across the open grass area to the right of the road out of the car park. Go across that to the diagonally opposite corner and you'll see a long straight, wide path cut through the bushy area. The action is in the bushes right and left, but the busiest areas tend to be about 100 yards along that path, off the the left (i.e. the side away from the river). There are a couple more smaller grassy areas not far into the bushes there and they tend to be the sunbathing areas.
