This wonderful beach is not visible from the highway. It is separated from the hwy. by canefields. If it is not possible to drive the dirt road through the field, park on the edge of the highway and walk the 1/3 mile to beach. Gays use the north end of the beach.
Crowd: Surfers and gays, the latter congregrate at the north end of the beach.

Driving north from the airport at Lihue, watch for the second dirt road on your right after the mile 11 marker.

  • Nudity / Policy:Yes / Nudity is illegal but no ones seems to worry at Donkey Beach.

  • A resort is being built on the land above the beach. Security patrols are frequent and the private guards will call the police. If nude, you'll most likely get a lecture but you may get a ticket if you cop an attitude with the law. As far as action and cruising, this beach is history.
