It is a public place, but is hidden behind the levee, so it's pretty private. Towboats may go by in the canal.Great visability to see cops etc. long before they see you, as they have to come down the levee road to get there too.In warm weather it is wooded.

It's north of I-270 right on Il. route 3. Take Illinois route 3 to the Lewis and Clark historic site. As you turn in off route 3 stay to the right and follow back to a split in the road. Go left on the levee road back to the public parking area for hunters, about 1 1/2 miles. Down the hill, next to the river.
