Late afternoons and nights are the best. The occasional police patrol might go by but you can go to the park parking lot near by.

Old 27 to Thumb Lake Road in Vanderbilt. Thumb Lake Rd is by a gas station to the left and you are going north on Old 27 toward Wolverine. You'll see the boat launch signs. It's only 5 miles down Thumb Lake Rd. And you can find it on your GPS.
