Cruisy gay gym. Several large workout areas, including free weights and circuit machines. Gay owned and operated, so they turn a blind eye to cruising in the locker room. Several individual showers with doors, plus a larger handicapped shower, big enough for groups.

Neighbourhood: Wilton Manors

In the heart of gay Fort Lauderdale on Wilton Drive next door to Alibi. In the corner of the shopping center. Lots of discreet parking since it shares a large parking lot with two gay bars and several stores and other businesses.
  • Hours:Activity during lunch time, early afternoon, when all the pretty boys that work at the clubs are working out. Also evenings 7-10pm or so. Rumors are they're going to stay open late on weekends beginning soon. Locker room will likely be very cruisy when that happens.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Without a doubt the sauna and lockers are easy picking. In the showers, just leave your door ajar. or in the sauna, pretty much everyone is naked, so show it hard and see if someone's interested. Lots of playing going on. Mostly gay clientele, so everyone pretty much turns a blind eye to locker room playing.
  • Nudity / Policy:Nudity allowed anywhere in the locker and steam rooms. No signs are posted about nudity in the gym itself, but discretion is in order. They do not advertise as a bathhouse.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No / Handicap bathrooms and shower in the men's locker room.
  • Warnings:Police never visit unless called (although a couple work out there). My only pet peeve is they should stay open late on Friday and Saturday. I heard they're going to stay open late starting soon, but we need a place within walking distance of the bars that stays open late. This place would be ideal for a quick or on the way home after a night of drinking.

  • that's true, night, BUT i think the free weights area has been made WAY too small, it's less than 1/2 waht it was as Main Street.

  • The new owners are local businessmen and won't let the place close this time. Currently have over 600 new members enrolled. They keep the place immaculately clean. Great place to workout and some great eye candy while you are working.

  • Thanks for that informative post. The new owners in late 2008 also own the Alibi and Bill's Filling Station, so they are not the same people who sold the memberships to Gold's Gym. Different name, different owners.

    I agree that it will be difficult to lure in those who now have memberships at other gyms, but I did see some guys going in the front door the first week they were open so that's a good sign. I'm told they have monthly memberships for those who don't want to plunk down a wad of cash all at once.
