  • Situation not much different from what FLBeachMan reported last year. Peters Point seems to attract evening cruising while Burney Park gets most of the daytime activity. In both locations, the bath facilities provide minimal safety in that there is no warning when others come in as main door is usually kept open. This park seems to get most of the cops attention, but think it is because this one is used a lot more than Burney Park.

  • Not much to add from earlier comment; although patrols have picked up here and at Burney with a dedicated "Beach Patrol" officer. Spends 70% at Peters Point parked in lot or down at beach. Usually has a magnetic sign on the side of vehicle; but have seen it there at times without the sign.
At night, will spotlight anyone sitting in their cars.

  • Correction to some of the general information. Bathrooms are open 7/24. As noted, showers give very little protection from someone walking in. Very little action during the day as park is heavily used by families. Be wary of two-story condos on north end of park as some of the residents have been known to watch activity and call police (but generally calling about teens racing in the parking lot at night).
Police patrols are sporadic, more often during the summer months. Nice boardwalks down to the beach provide a little more protection during the evening hours.
