in the smelly outhouse that doesn't have a lock on the door. Seems to be a lot of circle jerks in the woods. Looks like the nighttimes can get kinky. Saw a pair of surgical gloves with brown fingers in the outhouse...
Crowd: Really good mix. Yuppie tourists, closeted frat boys, married middle-aged guys, furry truck driver types, the unavoidable trolls and tons of mosquitoes.

West on 1A from Ellsworth or East on I-395 to 1A from Bangor. Located on the north side of Route 1A, about 3 miles from the Dunkin' Donuts in Ellsworth. 'Rest stop ahead' signs from either direction.
Cross street: US Route 1A
  • Crowd:Really good mix. Yuppie tourists, closeted frat boys, married middle-aged guys, furry truck driver types, the unavoidable trolls and tons of mosquitoes.
  • Hours:Varies. Sunday afternoons seem to be pretty busy.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Two options. Go stand in the reeking outhouse and wait for somebody to come peek into the glory hole. The other option is to follow the paths into the woods and join in on whatever is already going on.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:Mosquitoes are bad mornings and night, even in the midday heat. Every once in a while there'll be some blue-hair with an RV on a picnic (the nerve of some people!) and they snarl at the cruisers.

  • Don't waste your gas! The State Closed it, offered it to the town (they would have to pay the expenses) and they said NO NO NO NO NO!! It will now "Return to Nature". (Applies to any Rest Area not opened this year, and six more will not reopen this coming spring.

  • Is there any other Place to Go besides the Bucksport r-a ??? The Dudes i meet in Mensroom at Home Depot often MEAT Me there ... What a Bummer , to Have this place Closed .
