You must be a guest at the hotel or purchase a spa treatment. They no longer offer day passes. The men's spa at the MGM Grand Detroit is a very nice place to hang out. It has large private showers with full length doors. The steam room is very large and private. Same goes for the dry sauna. There is a whirlpool in the wet area that fits about 12 people. This is a great place to relax, get naked and have some fun. There is an attendant that comes through but not very often.
