A417 Birdlip Car Park and Toilets

Is This Your Business?

There are three parts to it: the first one is along the road, just after the right turn, towards the car park. The woods on the right are great for outdoor . A few yards ahead, stop on the right side of the road. Some activity in the woods on the right but only in the evening or in the summer, when the leaf cover is good. Go to the woods on the left side, follow the path and wait. Someone will turn up.
Finally, try the main car park itself. It is best in the evening, when "normals" have gone home. Very cruisy spot. The last layby of the car park is the best. In the summer, men walk into adjoing woods -- very secluded.
Crowd: All sorts -- lorries (truckers), married. Some time-wasters.

Neighbourhood: Birdlip

Drive from Gloucester to Cirencester via birdlip on A417; toilets on right hand side with woods to rear.
Another cruise writes: Most of the description seems to apply to the Barrow Wake viewpoint, which is at Birdlip, just off the A417 (signed with Scenic view logo), near to the Air Balloon public house. But there are no toilets there.

The other area is known as 'Granny's Pumps'. This is a lay-by nearer Cirencester, close to the Highwayman public house. Access is only from the Cirencester to Gloucester direction (from Gloucester, turn off at the direction to Syde, round the lower level roundabout and return towards Gloucester.) This has toilets on the right hand side and action takes place there and in the woods opposite.

  • Hours:Anytime Afternoons, from 4 pm onwards
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Park in the end carpark, walk
down the path to the woods, and then just keep walking down the hill, you
will know you're in the right place by all the tissue paper and .
    Cruisiest Spots: Entire area.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:Unfortunately, it is a public place and, due to its location (it is a scenic point), it is visited by "normals" -- families with kids or retired couples, etc. Have seen straight couples having it off too, though! I have scored here at various times during the day but late afternoons and afterwards are best -- best choice of meat and the "normals" have gone home!
Warnings: Never seen police but have been told they rarely show.
