On the east side of Carbondale, go south on Giant City Road past mall, go 10 miles will run into park. Drive all around by trails and parking areas.

    Best times: Anytime, early afternoon.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:When giant city road comes to a tee, go right and all around to the trail parking areas. Just walk down paths.

  • I cruised through earlier this week at about 5pm. Few cars around. No obvious action to be had. I bet this place could get confusing after dark.

  • I drive through the park alot. I walk the trails. There are alot of good places during the week when it is quiet but I have never seen anyone around that looks to be cruizing. It would be a good place but who goes there to cruize

  • The "directions" aren't very clear. There are lots of parking areas and trails in this park. Which is better? Devil's Standtable at Shelter #2? Giant City Nature Trail at Shelter #3? Or all the way to Stone Fort Trail and Trillium Trail by Shelter #1 and the Park's back entrance in Makanda?

    Has anybody really cruised here or does it just seem like a nice spot for it? I go here a lot for the nature (believe it or not) and have never seen anything that looked like a "scene."
