After your arrest, depending on the charges, you might not have a job. All it takes is the CPS to show up the day after or the day of your arrest and speak with your employer, chances are you will not be working there much longer. If the Police do not feel they have a case, they will release your name, area where you live, and other information to the press, and make questionable comments like 'We are still investigating possible drug connections.' or 'We seized a laptop from the person, and are currently investigating possible photos found on the laptop.' Theses statements do not say you are guilty, but creates an environment where the listener or the reader thinks you are guilty.
If the Police tow your car, then you have to cover that cost as well. If you have no one or method to cover your bail, then you stay in prison until your court date.
With the current Police and legal environment in Calgary, all it takes are charges, and the police to say you are guilty with no other proof required. Yes, I know it goes agisnt the charter of rights and freedom, but until some one say other wise, you are guilty of the crime if the Calgary Police Service say you are guilty.
It is very difficult to trust, or even respect the Calgary Police Service, when they beat possible criminals who are in hand cuffs, or do other questionable acts in the name of 'Public Safety'.

Amen to that citi!! Thankfully, I have an almost photographic memory sooo I pretty much scan and remember everything
pertinent to any given situation and yes I certainly think that there should be some sort of legal fund set up to defend ourselves, I mean christ this is 2007, and gays contribute a hella lot to this economy. I very much respect the work that all of our officers do, but let us never forget who it is that actually pays for them...Hmmm, it's us!!

They have to provide u with a badge number or read their name off their name tag. If they threaten to arrest you, let em. Its false arrest, you get a lawyer and sue for damages and court costs

I found that most CPS members will not provide Reg numbers or names when they know they are doing something wrong. They just say take the number of the car, or something along those lines. When you complain or tell them they have to provide that information to you, they don't and claim they will arrest you if you do not leave.
Have been told they do that often with the working girls downtown.

All you have to do is get the arresting officers name and his/her partner and file a complaint not with the police department, but with human rights. That way its gets leaked to the media and turns into a nightmare for them
