the cops are so damn bored in this city that they can pass by empty (or close to empty parks) multiple times a night? most developed and progressive countries dont make these types of pursuits a top priority but apparently we have way too many police on the payroll and they all have to find something to do. unreal.

the gangs and the crackheads should be a bigger priority in my option.

am i missing something about this location? 2 weeks ago there were 2 fire trucks and 2 police vehicles in the middle of the park near the middle of all the paths around some big trees.

They got out of their vehicles and headed into the darkness and about 5 - 10 minutes later the flashlights came out and they started yelling at people to follow them to the lit area in the parking lot. I didnt wait around to speak with them personally... but observed them checking ID of the 5 or 6 people that they 'caught' walking around and sent them on their way. A squad car arrived around 10ish and flashed their search light around the area and by 1015 everything had gone back to normal.

IMO, Calgary's finest needs to focus on the increasingly violent crime in this city and not try to entrap people walking in a park. I am contemplating sending a letter off to the CPS Public Complaints office for this reason: the park is open 5 am to 11 pm as the sign indicates. If someone gets caught in the act then fine they face the consequences. But while walking in a public park after dark may seem odd to some, it is not against the law. I'm embarassed to be a born and raised Calgarian after what I witnessed tonight.
