cruiser update 4/20.2009: Not a good location now following complaints to police from nearby residents. They keep an eye on this layby and have put up warning notices (see atached photo). The undergrowth has been cut right down to limit th screening from te road. The Winterton layby further down towards Sedgefield on the other side of the A177 is far better and seems not to attract police attention. It is listed on this site.
Photo attached showing how open this layby is now.

previous comment: A very active and under advertised site.

On A177 driving South from Cohoe continue past the Trimdon/Fishburn turnoff and the layby is about 200 yards further souh on the west side of the road. From Sedgefield it is on the left as you star to come down the last hill before Coxhoe. It is a paved layby about 100 yards long, separated from the road by a line of trees. There is a belt of trees and shrubs to the west of the layby where the cruising takes place.

  • Hours:I understand that it is active around the clock although obviously it is busies at night and weekends.
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Eye contact and smiles work wonders!
Cruisiest Spots: In the bushes. Just walk along the little pathways and you will be sure to meet someone. The shrubbery is quite extensive so you can go deeper for some privacy.
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No
  • Warnings:The usual guys who will not take 'No thank you' as an answer!
