cruiser update 11/28/2008: The entiire mile of the Poniente Beach is currently a building site. The footpath and balustrade have been demolished, as have the various staircases giving beach access. The only access is by the staircase near the Marconi (the infamous tunnel is barred/locked at one end and bricked up at the other). Other than that, there are tunnels further along towards La Cala but these are lit and useless at night. Except for access to the tunnels, the beach is fenced off for 10 - 15 metres from the old prom wall along the entire one-mile length to accommodate building materials and for security. Sorry, guys, no hiding places left. Bareshag (5/28/2008) is quite correct about personal safety.

Previous comment: The whole of the promenade on the Poniente side from the Parque de Elche along is very busy with cruisers in the early hours of the morning as people come back from the clubs. Many people seem to disappear down the steps onto the beach just further along from the Hotel Marconi. Cars / vans also cruise this stretch of the prom and park up from time to time.
