picture update 1/13/2009:
1. Main entry in Boundary Road.
2.Intersection of highway and Boundary Road.
3.Toilet block "closed due to vandalism". No reopening date indicated.
4.Typical tree cover and track.

Update 1/7/2009: The park is on a hill covered with eucalyptus trees and grass native to the area. There is a network of VERY HEAVILY rutted tracks amongst the trees,a toilet block with an undated, unsigned notice without letterhead advising that it has been closed "due to vandalism". No reopening date is mentioned. There are a couple of picnic shelters, and a few tables under the trees.
The majority of visitors seem to be there to walk their dogs.
There is a limited amount of cruising after dark, mostly my (men?) in 4WD or Utes. The technique is the old "trial by headlight " approach: put your lights on high beam and look for someone you fancy. Very crude and rude.
Without cover and a toilet block this place is strictly an after dark venue, the place is as deserted as the highway between about 10 pm and 4 am. I camped there as others have apparently done, if the remains of camp fires is anything to go by.

cruiser adds: The Bathurst and District Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Park is on the corner of the Mid Western Highway (Route 24 to Cowra) and Boundary Road, on the western edge of the city and directly opposite (and due south of) the Bathurst Golf Club. Boundary Road is one of the access roads to the Mount Panorama Racing Circuit and is marked as such.
The main entry to the park is between low brick walls in Boundary Road but there is also a gravel track entering from the highway.

Road to Cowra near turn off to Mt Panorama, heading out of Bathurst on left past golf course
Cross street: Road to Cowra near turn off to Mt Panorama
