Praia Grande
The gay beach at Armacao de Pera is called Praia Grande, it is large beach with exceptional views. The sand is clean and the beach is shielded on the north side by extensive dunes and on the east side by some rock formations. The latter mark the end of the nude gay beach. Like most gay beaches in Algarve, beachwear is optional. The dunes behind the beach are action packed by mid afternoon. The bamboo by the end of the dunes (on the opposite direction to the sea) is a good hunting ground.

The beach is a ten minute walk east along the water from the centre of town. If driving, follow directions to 'Pera' (a small village between highway EN125 and Armacao de Pera) then signs to Praia Grande. Park by the bamboo and walk over the dunes to the beach.
