Reception:
Upon entering you will meet an old man who does not look gay. There were about 5 other older men fully clothed in the same space. I placed my valuables in a plastic bag and he put them in a desk drawer.
I then was handed a cloth, soap and sandles. I discretely stripped and wrapped the towel around me.

Walking through a curtain I came across into a room with a toilet (a squatter) and then another small room with about 10 men waiting around. Extending out of this room there are about 5 private wash areas and one larger wash room with a marble table.

The Clientele
I am in my thirties and have very western features: blond, blue eyes. Because of my novel appearance I was pretty much a cente of attention. The men were mostly in their forties and not really appealing to me, despite the fact that I find Arabic men very attractive. One guy gave me a body rub but also wanted more. I wasn't really into that with him. I went into another room and a guy wanted to me - no - again not too into that.

After about 3 or 4 further unsuccessful advances I gave up and changed. Unfortunately, just as I was changing about 3 really attractive guys entered. this was about 4pm.

Would I go back? Maybe if I was in the area. I would definetely advise taking your own towel. It's very hard to dry off successfully.

  • The hammam is not easy to find, but ask at the vegetable souk or at the people working in the furniture stalls. I've been there in november and there was no hot water at all, very dirty with roaches running even on the walls. The service is very low level, one of filthiest places on earth, very likely just for a quicky and go. Go if you have really nothing else to do.
